Catherine Headley is inspired by the landscape of West Penwith in Cornwall; the open moor land, granite cliffs, ancient sites and standing stones and the similar terrain of the west coast of Ireland and of parts of Scotland; wild uncultivated lands that hint of times gone by. Calligraphic signs and symbols from past civilisations are stored in her visual memory and creep into her work. She loves colour and above all, she tries to achieve the spontaneity that one sees in a child’s painting.
Catherine has exhibited in the Royal Academy summer Exhibition many times and shows her work in galleries in Cornwall, Cambridge, Norfolk and Lincolnshire. She works in a large studio at the top of the Georgian building which is Stamford Arts Centre in Stamford, Lincolnshire.
